Sara Heinonen is a Canadian writer and photographer living in Hamilton, Ontario.
Her story collection Dear Leaves, I Miss You All was published by Mansfield Press in 2013. Her fiction has appeared in numerous Canadian literary magazines, including Grain, Event, The Fiddlehead, Taddle Creek, The New Quarterly, and The Dalhousie Review. Her writing has been supported by grants from the Canada Council, Ontario Arts Council, and Toronto Arts Council.
A portrait photographer focused on writers, artists, and other creative people, Sara also takes conceptual photographs and is working on several series. Her photograph Love It Here was selected for the 2015 RMG Exposed juried auction at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa. Her photograph Lower Don was selected for the forthcoming 2019 Carmichael Landscape Exhibition — Tradition Transformed at the Orillia Museum of Art & History.
Sara has a degree in landscape architecture from the University of Toronto. For over twenty-five years she designed many gardens and a handful of public spaces, and now works as a communications consultant for architectural firms.
